It's colder than Finnick would like, which prevents him from going into the water, but it doesn't stop him from hanging around the boardwalk, watching the tides ebb and flow and the sun glisten on the horizon in the distance.

It's absurd to him that he can't just swim until he finds another land, but not as absurd as the fact he's not sure that he'd want to.

It's peaceful here, if unsettling, and he's starting to accept the fact that no one's watching him from hidden cameras a man-made sky. The money that filters into his account his first and then second month in the city feels wrong, like the jewels he was offered for his body back in the Capitol, so he knows he'll need a job before long.

The problem is how little he knows to do beyond fighting and fucking. There's fishing, of course, but he wouldn't know where to start in making a living out of that.

So for now he just looks out at the horizon most days, wondering if the promise that he's still with Annie rings true.
